Book Blogger Hop

Hi and welcome! My name is Kelsey Ketch – writer and reader of young adult novels. (Check out my account on goodreads and take a look at my side bar for my most current completed readings and rankings.)

RULES:

1.  Enter your book blog link in the Linky List at Crazy-for-Books.com

In your link, please state the main genre that you review:  eclectic, contemp. fiction, ya, paranormal, mystery, non-fiction, etc.

2. Post about the Hop on your blog.  Spread the word about the book party!  The more the merrier!  In your blog post, answer the following question (new question each week!).  This week’s question comes from Christina who blogs at All About YA Books:

“If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?”

Actually, I start with the book that looks interesting (examples: DEAD NORTH by Sue Henry, THE DA VINCI CODE by Dan Brown, and NOBODY’S PRIZE by Esther M. Friesner). Then, if I like the book, I’ll go back and buy the first title. I just bought NOBODY’S PRINCESS (the first title to NOBODY’S PRIZE) last night and is on my to-read list.

How about you? Do you start with the first title?

  1. Wow, you’re one of the only bloggers I’ve seen who says they don’t mind starting in the middle of a series. My OCD won’t let me do that! I HAVE to start at the beginning. Otherwise, I’m bound to miss something.

Glad to have found you via the Hop!

  2. I can dive right into the middle of a book series if the series’ story
    doesn’t run chronologically.

That is to say, if each novel in a series is a stand-alone story (like Lee
Child’s Reacher novels) then I don’t feel the need to start with book one.

On the other hand, a series of books (like Richard Hatch’s Battlestar
Galactica novels) can’t be read out of sequence since each new book builds
upon the story of the previous entry in the series.

    Happy Book Blogger Hop Friday!

  4. Just found you through the Hop! Have you read The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown? I don’t think it’s part of a series (?), but it’s my favorite from him. Have a great weekend!
