My Ideal Writing Space

July 7th – Renae Mercado posted on The Siren Song– “Road Trip Wednesday is a “Blog Carnival,” where YA Highway’s contributors post a weekly writing- or reading-related question and answer it on our their own blogs. You can hop from destination to destination and get everybody’s unique take on the topic. They also encourage everyone to feel free to post on their own blogs…I just couldn’t resist!

This Week’s Topic:
“What would your ideal writing desk look like? Right down to the perfect pen or laptop.”

So, my ideal writing place would be in a top floor room (preferable the third level), the French doors and window facing the southern face out towards a deck with a beech view.  It’s a simple room, just a colonial desk and chair. A few bookshelves lining the walls with leather bound books. The walls painted either a calm blue or a soft lilac. The window would have be stained glass, a diamond pattern of alternating blue and clear glass.  As the colors shimmer on the deck, there would be a tin mug filled with purple, red, and black pens along with a cutlass letter opener. A quill and old ink well would sit in the corner. Though I would have a laptop to type out my storylines, my ideas would be written first in a journal. My favorite has a black cat standing under a tree. A purple, blue, and green horizon in the background.  Below is my favorite quote: “All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream” ~ Edgar Allan Poe.

So, what’s your ideal writing space?
